Your new company
Hays Education are currently supporting a school in Chester that is seeking a reliable and proactive Caretaker to join their site team on a full-time basis to cover a period of staff absence. This role is available to start as soon as possible and offers an excellent opportunity for someone with previous site or caretaking experience to step into a supportive school environment and play a key role in maintaining the premises.
Your new role
The role will be working Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm, supporting the Site Manager with the day-to-day upkeep, safety, and security of the school site. Duties will include opening and closing the premises, carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs, ensuring health and safety standards are met, assisting with site inspections, and setting up rooms for school activities and events. You will also be responsible for ensuring the site remains clean, safe, and well-presented at all times.
What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will have previous caretaking, maintenance, or site support experience, preferably within a school or similar environment. You will need to be practical, dependable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. A good understanding of health and safety procedures is essential, along with the ability to respond to issues quickly and effectively.
