Senior Accountant (French speaking)

Our client is a UK Engineering firm based in the Liverpool/Manchester area currently recruiting a French speakingSenior Accountant with strong written and spoken communication skills in both languages. The role will take full responsibility for aligning French and UK accounting practices and is integral to supporting the business through a period of transition.

Role of the Senior Accountant:

Preparation and collection of financial information:

• Collect accounting and financial documents.
• Translate or explain financial documents between French and English teams.
• Organise document exchanges via a data room.
• Accounting conversion and harmonization:
• Assist in reconciling UK accounting standards (UK GAAP or IFRS) with the standards used by the group in France.
• Convert financial statements from British pounds (GBP) to euros (EUR).
• Verify the consistency of accounting mappings.

Bilingual communication management:

• Act as the daily liaison between French and British teams.
• Translate technical discussions regarding accounting and taxation.
• Participate in follow-up meetings and draft bilingual minutes.
• Finance support in collaboration with the CEO
• Post-acquisition accounting integration:
• Assist with the setup of opening balances.
• Review integration journal entries.
• Support data migration to the Group's ERP system.
• Participate in monthly closing processes during the transition period.
• Verify bank and intercompany reconciliations.

Financial reporting:

• Prepare monthly reports for the French Group.
• Produce bilingual financial dashboards.
• Monitor key performance indicators (Revenue, EBITDA, cash position, working capital).
• Update tracking files for synergies and integration costs.

Administrative and tax support:

• Prepare supporting documentation for external auditors.
• Monitor tax filings in coordination with local teams.
• Verify invoices related to acquisition fees (legal, banking, advisory).
• Assist in tracking contracts and financial commitments.

Profile:

• Fluent French and English (written and spoken) with strong communication skills
• Solid understanding of general accounting both UK and French GAAP.
• Knowledge of accounting closing processes.
• Familiarity with financial consolidation.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookup functions, complex formulas).
• Meticulousness, organisational skills, and ability to work in an international environment.
